Vision
Our vision is to reach self-sufficiency through wood work and gardening. Currently we build sheds, outdoor structures, and the infrastructure for gardens. Soon we will also teach how to grow your own food and maintain your own gardens, identify pests and diseases, and the nuanced details of gardening so that we can truly build and grow together.
What’s the difference between BTI and BGT?
BTI only offers garden bed builds relating to gardening. BGT will help you plan, establish, and maintain your garden. Everything else is the same.
Build, Grow, Together Project
Driven by community and built with purpose, this is where compassion and intentionality meet. Let’s build and grow, together.
This project was created to remove barriers for growth—both literal and personal—for individuals and families who lack access to safe storage, functional outdoor space, and healthy food. For many people, the cost of materials, tools, and skilled labor makes structures like sheds and productive garden spaces completely out of reach. At the same time, rising food costs and limited access to fresh, nutritious options leave many households dependent on food that is less healthy than what could be grown at home.
The BGT Project is designed to donate sheds, garden systems, and outdoor structures to individuals who cannot afford to purchase the materials or pay for professional installation. These donations are not one-time handoffs; they are built through a collaborative process that centers learning, empowerment, and long-term sustainability.
We recognized that a simple structure or a well-planned garden can change how people live. A shed can provide organization, security, and a place to create. A garden can provide food, self-reliance, and pride. Together, they create space—space to grow food, learn new skills, and regain a sense of ownership over one’s environment.
Education is woven into every stage of the project. Recipients participate in consultations and planning tailored to their specific needs, gaining practical knowledge about design, materials, gardening methods, and maintenance. Each recipient receives full build plans for their structure or garden, ensuring they understand what was created and how to care for it, expand it, or replicate it in the future.
The BGT Project is cyclical, not transactional. Recipients are always welcome to return for guidance, advice, or adjustments to their existing build. They may also choose to give back by volunteering on future projects, sharing their experience with others, or assisting with similar builds in their community.
At the same time, volunteers gain hands-on learning through on-site instruction during builds. Whether assisting with construction or garden installation, volunteers develop practical skills while contributing directly to their community. This shared learning environment fosters connection, mentorship, and confidence for everyone involved.
At its core, this project exists to create access—to healthy food, functional space, practical skills, and community connection. By combining donation with education, the project transforms sheds and gardens into tools for self-sufficiency, dignity, and long-term growth.
This program is primarily funded by donations and grants. We do have services available as well to aid in funding.
